In her own words...

As a fourth-generation healer, I always knew that medicine in some form was part of my life path. My specialty evolved from my own family experience and my desire to find a natural way to help improve the health of family members afflicted by heart disease.

In my training to be certified as an integrative health nutrition counselor, I feel honored and blessed to have been trained by the most innovative and trusted teachers and doctors in the world, such as Deepak Chopra, MD; Dr. Mark Hyman; Walter Willet, MD, Chairman of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School; Andrew Weil, MD, founder and Director of the Program in Integrative Medicine (PIM) at the University of Arizona; David Wolfe and other wellness pioneers, during my training.

I consider the wisdom and mentorship I received during my  medical school training priceless and instrumental in developing my approach to "heal the patient versus treating symptoms".  I am so grateful for my medical school mentors for instilling in me the ethics, passion and knowledge to practice integrative medicine at the highest level of skill and integrity.  I am passionate to share that i would not be the doctor, healer, mentor and coach i am today without the generations of healers that came before me.

My journey into healing began as a child, learning to use herbs and natural remedies handed down by my latino family elders. My first formal job in holistic health was while still in college as a pharmacist assistant for the natural supplement department he developed. This was my first experience learning how to choose the best supplements for optimal health while taking into consideration possible interactions with medications. Fascinated by my experience, I continued seeking job opportunities in the holistic health field which would lead me to work as a head assistant for an Integrative Medicine practice and then as an advanced clinical technician in a cardiac PCU unit in a hospital.

In my continued pursuit of natural healing, I earned a degree in professional therapeutic massage and discovered the power of healing the body through touch. I then furthered my studies and completed a bachelor and Master of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Here I pursued mastering my clinical, listening and observation skills, healing the body, mind and spirit through the lense of the oldest evidenced informed medical system in the world.

On my path to becoming a doctor, I returned to my alma mater, where I earned my Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese medicine degree specializing in integrative medicine, my training prepared me for the unrivaled benefits of having an evidenced-informed practice. I developed the necessary skills for providing successful collaborative care- working alongside MD’s and other medical providers, for the benefit of the best possible outcome for patients.

During my hospital internships, I was able to see the healing power of integrative medicine. And I am also whole-heartedly committed to a lifetime of continuing education to expand my knowledge and expertise. Below you'll find a short list of some of the additional training that I've added to my ever-growing healing toolbox.
